15 Oct The eternal childhood of sleep
For me, sleep time will always taste like the happy childhood I had. But what a pity that, as children, we did not value sleep. In fact, Children are enemies of sleep, even though they embrace it at night. Every day is new and sleep comes to “rob” us of the daily anxiety of being little.
Bedtime has several phases. He has the phase of carefree child and bad with sleep, not knowing that he would be one of his best friends during his life. The adolescent phase disturbed, changing the day for the night, suffering the anxieties of the age. The adult phase, with worried sleep, still, sometimes, late adolescent.
The writer Mia Couto already said: “Everyone praises the dream, which is the rest of life. But it is the opposite, we need to live to rest from dreams ”. Yes, we need this life to rest from dreams, which sometimes weigh if they are very distant, but I continue to praise sleep, that sacred hour of meeting the unconscious.
I will always enjoy the cotton pajamas, the night reflections, the air conditioning or the fan that make me not remember the heat of the day. After all the past creams, hair and brushed teeth, alarm clock on the spot (even if it is on the cell phone), I conclude that the whole ritual of sleeping matures over time, but, in essence, it is childish.
Because, at the end of the day, at sleep time, after all the bills paid and duties done, we don’t need to prove anything else. When sleeping, we just need to be ourselves, like children. The rest leaves for dreams.
